The birth of Syrtanyelle

The birth of Syrtanyelle

Syrtanyelle coalesced from the mist

Her face appeared

getting more and more defined

before her body started to take form

Always she would cherish the mist

that reminded her the day she first came into existence

And when her body awakened

she chose to explore it

under the cover of a protective mist

She found the light of the sun

too blinding and painful for her eyes

and she always awaited cloudy days

to get out for her strolls

Syrtanyelle could not speak the tongue

of trees, nor that of birds

for she had a tangled node in her throat

and a wall surrounded her heart

which light she found too bright

and yet despite her muted silence

she loved to walk into the forest

and look at distant mountains

dreaming of the day

she’d be able to sing again

in the language of her soul
