Memory hole

Memory hole

You are looking over the ruins of a town

a place that once was very familiar to you

but you do not remember the war

that has thrown its pillars to the floor

and crumbled its stones to dust

Sometimes a part of you screams and despairs

how did I lose all this beauty, you wonder

but the deafening silence of echoes replies to your shout

You are present

and yet there is a hole in your consciousness

you are here without being yourself entirely

there is a part of you that is still missing

buried under too dark a matter to let the light in

As long as your eyes do not form a perfect circle

some things of this world will keep on eluding you

and you will not be able to see

all the facets of the truth you are seeking
