Brown Wave

Brown wave

The veil of doubt is still here around

waiting to drown me in its mists when I’m not careful enough

depriving me of the light and the warmth of the sun

letting me shiver on my own

And yet with a few words, a few acts of consciousness

I could call to me the fury of the wind and that of the sea

and the waves would curl around my body

taking down the mist and bringing back the sun

in what I thought was a sunless day

When I’m too strong another trick of the mist is to come inside my body

making me tired, lethargic or sick so that I give up more easily

and can’t muster the strength to call the storm to me

But even on those days, I must learn to break away from the veil of doubt

and warm my shivering body against all odds
