Two-Headed

Two-headed

Have you seen the two-headed creature dormant in the clay

it’s almost symmetrical at first sight, as though the two heads were identical

but upon closer inspection they’re not

This creature is wounded, it has two wounds, two different pains

and yet it has one sole body of green where the sap flows

Does it truly matter which wound is whose

where my pain starts and your pain stops

sometimes it seems you write in black and white, in empty shapes that miss colors

and I probably write with the right colors but missing shapes and textures

War and revolutions make me cry

Revolutions are special to me

I feel them on my skin

I want to overthrow unfairness

I want to march in rhythm with songs and drums

I want to see beauty triumphing against what is evil and ugly

But wars terrify me

Especially their noise

The anguish of hearing a bomb

The tension accompanying me all day long as I fear hearing again these rending sounds

as though by resonating in my ears they shattered my world and my life

It is a very primal fear

I also cry at the idea of a young man whose life is lost

a young man who struggles heroically and falls

and all the sadness of his relatives, of his parents, of the girl who loved him

What about you, what is your wound about

what makes your heart quivers and moisten your eyes

tell me another story about who you are

Two-headed - The other side
