Frozen Sea

Frozen Sea

Have you ever heard of a sea

so stubborn it refused to move with the wind

and reflect the clouds in the sky

A frozen sea showing only the most subdued of its colors on the surface

when everything indicates that deep beneath precious metals exist

Not slightest breeze

nor the strongest gale

have any effect on its surface

And instead of watching the sky

marveling at the grand symphony that unravels there

the sea holds its eyes shut

Seeing it from afar

it looks more like a frozen lake or a plain

that heavy cavalry could trample with its hooves

But in reality this sea behaves more as shifting sands

swallowing all what it finds disturbing and can’t cope with

When will this sea finally accept to stare into the sky’s eyes and let vivid hues color its face

when will it eagerly dance in unison with the wind’s breath

when will it unveil all the gifts it has withheld deep within

and let free all the debris it has swallowed over the ages

pieces of wood and plastic bottles stuck in her throat

she’ll throw away on nearby shores, where they truly belong

Oh frozen sea that refuses to look at me

know that I have admired you all along

and studied every day the slightest changes in your face

even if you insist on ignoring my presence

I can’t do the same and will continue on telling you new stories

of woven clouds and twinkling stars each day that passes
