Spirit weather

Spirit weather

My spirit resembles a sky

There are masses of warm and cold air that travel to my latitudes

and clash, giving birth to creative storms

For that to happen, however

the pressure needs to drop

and sometimes for an afternoon or two days in a raw

southeastern winds laden with dust blow

making me dull and unproductive

When the pressure has sufficiently dropped

masses of clouds and cold air arrive

and they shower the soil in want of water with copious showers

and the vegetation flourishes

and the rivers fill

and the lakes come back to life

For a few days, my spirit functions as it should

but soon fair weather settles

and with it the drought

temperatures are slightly higher than seasonal norms

and it lingers and lingers

until the stifling winds of Khamseen blow again

and bring in their furrows the seeds of a new storm

“Spirit weather” is a watercolor I painted
