The four seasons of ego

Again I realize

I’ve painted four watercolors

that in addition of each bearing a poem within them

add up to form a canvas, a whole

a cycle representing the four seasons

ego seasons

Unconscious mind symbolizes spring

the birth of new possibilities

new ways of bypassing old ego patterns

the erroneous, destructive ways

you’ve been thinking and behaving all your life

but these little sprouts will have difficulty developing

under the canopy of mature trees

that have been growing up for years in the fields of your mind

Dragon roar represents summer

the underground emotions you’ve enclosed

and that are now awakening in full force

shaking the walls you’ve built with earthquakes

melting the stone with fire

but as long as the dragon remains trapped

you pretend nothing’s wrong

and you continue leading the life you’ve always had

Invisible winds announces fall

what happens in your inner realms

starts transpiring in the external world

you feel the dragon spitting fire in your walled heart

as an invisible wind ruffling your hair

and brushing your skin

This wind whispers of change and storms to come

and yet, stability still prevails

Gate to Hazen is when the whirlwind

finally hits you with full force

you can’t anymore escape the storm

raging within yourself

and instead you let go of all the false excuses you had been holding tight

you let the asphyxiating trees being uprooted by the wind

you widely open your arms and welcome the rain within the gardens of your heart

accepting death

the death of your ego, of your old way of living life

for a moment you’re gone from this world

but accepting death is very empowering

and the next moment you’re back

still yourself, in a bettered version though

and the fields of your heart are finally cleared

to let grow orchards within them

and bring you life and renewal

true life this time

without the veil of haze that used to surround everything you looked at, everything you touched and tasted
