Borders

Destin

I dreamt I had passed the border

and was walking from the other side of the fence

where it is forbidden to walk for me

I was happy to be there in this forbidden land

and stressed wondering how I’d come back

to my homeland

How to cross this fence in the other sense

a human fence more hermetic than any physical wall

how to return without being stopped and arrested

Finally I started waking up

and realized in my half-awaked state I wouldn’t have

to cross again the border

and that I was instead safely in my bed

There are places we wish to go to

but we can’t

we don’t dare

once we are there it feels as walking in a dream

we hardly recognize ourselves anymore

and yet in a way we have surrendered to this pressing nudge

that has accompanied us all our life

whispering us to let go of mental blockages, of fears

and abandon to the warmth of life

and walk in these fields in our heart

where we had forbidden ourselves to step all life long
