September winds

September winds

The landscape is dry and parched

and a wind of change is subtly blowing

faltering the colors under a waning sun

seething the water after a long torpor

I welcome this breeze on my skin

I can already hear the promise of wintry storms

it whistles to the tree leaves

Stories of fall and death and renewal

“September winds” is a watercolor I painted
