Drifting smoke / Les fumées s’éclaircissent

Drifting smoke

The smoke is drifting

And your eyes are clearing

Revealing to your gentle gaze

The truth you kept

For so long hidden from yourself

A lot of time has passed

Yet it seems only yesterday

Our gazes last embraced

And our lips reunited

in a contagious smile

Time seems a mountain beyond the horizon

But once you climb it

It shrivels to a rugged, flattening plain

Observe the billowing smoke

Blown away by this powerful wind

Admire the nascent colors in the sky

Hues we’ve been so long deprived of

In this gray world where we dwell

The veil between your heart and your mind is thinning

New landscapes are formed

New understandings are reached

Lit by the soft morning light

“Drifting smoke” is a watercolor I painted.
