Watercolor writing

Stilled forests - Fall times - Erik Vincenti Zakhia

Writing poetry for me is like painting a watercolor

Fast, spontaneous, truthful

The first words that come to my mind I write down

Without spending too much time curing the aesthetics of sentences

What matters is the energy, the emotion that comes with these words

Too much editing risks to dim this light, the intensity that accompanies these feelings

Sometimes my sentences are imperfect, yes they are

But I believe that they are truthful to whom I am right now

They are sentences that must be read and understood with the heart

Pictured through the imagination

Close your eyes and step in my world

Don’t let yourself stop, stall, on tiny unimportant details

This or that word that could have been chosen better

This unfortunate spelling mistake

No, that’s pettiness, and it won’t make you grow

That won’t make me grow either

For if I put in my mind of writing perfectly

I’d spend all day and all night reviewing every piece of writing

And as I change and progress

I’d always be dissatisfied with my past work, always trying to render it perfect

Never reaching that perfection, for what is perfect today won’t be tomorrow

No, what has been written belongs to the past

It is as it is

In both its beauty and in its imperfection

And hopefully it will get even more impacting as days pass

  3. All creativity has some parallels betwern them, I think. I sometimes see my inking process as playing a song, it has to be done right the first time 🙂
    Good post!
