The blazing tree

Do I need an audience to yarn my story

Or is it fine telling it to the wind and clouds’ ears

Do I need the cheering of a throng

Or shall I satisfy myself with the echo of my words

In the silence that enfolds me

Am I writing for myself

For others

Or for both

I believe I am writing for myself first

And for others then

The fire within me must carry me to unwritten latitudes

The praise of people around is just a bit of balm

To apply on my calloused hands and my cold face

But I can’t rely on them to keep my inner flame ever burning

And I must learn to ride the winds on my own
